Hat-trick for Coello and Tapia. Third Premier after Rome and Madrid

The Premier Padel circuit continues to have only two kings, Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia . After their victories in the Rome Major and the P1 in Madrid , the Spaniard and the Argentinean – authentic dominators of the season – also triumphed in the P1 in Mendoza , beating 6-2 7-6 in one hour and 35′ the Superpibes Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno .

The crowd at the Aconcagua Arena , as it has been all week, was fantastic and paid the right tribute to two players who continue to dominate the padel world. “I am speechless – Tapia admits -. First of all I have to thank the crowd, which was amazing. We played a great final with two guys against whom there is a rivalry, but a very sane one. I am really happy” . ‘

For Coello, however, a victory that avenged last year’s defeat in Mendoza, paired with Belasteguin, against Stupaczuk and Lima. “It was a very tough match, in which I had to give more than my best”, said Arturo -. “It was a difficult week, but we closed it out in the best way. It’s great to be able to play these challenges and always to learn.

Congratulations to Agustin who did an incredible tournament: the level was very high, now I’m enjoying my holidays a bit to be ready to start again”.

Coello and Tapia started immediately with a break in the second game of the first set, never dropping serve until closing 6-2 on the second set point. Arturo and Agustin cancelled two break points in the opening game and another in the fifth game of the second set, where the final became more balanced and where Stupaczuk and Di Nenno fought on each of their opponents’ service rounds in search of a break that never came.

Coello and Tapia also had three break points, but the Superpibes cancelled them out and led 4-4. At 6-5 0-30, Coello missed a comfortable smash that would have given him and Tapia three match points. Stupa and Di Nenno then took advantage of the opportunity and took the second set to the tiebreak.

The decisive game was exciting, with the two Argentinians having the first set point, which was not converted. On the first match point, however, Tapia closed with a phenomenal shot, reaffirming that they are still the kings. The Premier Padel 2023 reaches the halfway point of its journey: in September it will start again with Paris (Roland Garros), followed by New Giza , Acapulco and Milan.
